The Monitor

The monitor is another hardware component of the computer. The monitor serves as the mouth of the computer. It is because the monitor serves as the way for expressing what the PC is doing.

Imagine the use of the PC when you won’t have a medium to express it with? How can you type things when you can’t see it? How can you play games or surf the net? Get my drift?

The standard resolution for a windows operating system is supposed to be 640x480 pixels. This is not the best resolution you can get for your monitor, it only means that 640 pixels from across the top and 480 pixels from top to bottom.

The best resolutions are those that range from 800x600, 1024x768, or 1600x1200. When the monitors have higher resolutions the objects become smaller but are still clear as ice. The higher the resolution, the more objects you can also fit. Imagine fitting all the pictures of your relatives as your wall paper.

So don’t get fooled when a sales man tells you that a big monitor the size of a 21 inch TV is great and cheap. Remember when choosing monitors, resolutions are what you should look at. However if you have a small monitor with a high resolution it may not work well too. The text may be also hard to read that you may need magnifying glass.

How fast the monitor can draw up the images on the screen is highly dependent on the refresh rate. So it is important to look at that too. Your picture will have fewer flickers and become smoother depending on the refresh rate to.

Monitors and video cards also work hand in hand in a way. The monitor contributes to the quality of the video card product. If the supposed image is to be bright but your monitor can not make it bright, the image will be dark or blurry.

The first you should decide when buying a monitor is the size. Since the monitor can be something you can save up to even when the whole other PC components have been replaced.

Another thing to consider is the dot pitch of the monitor. The higher the dot pitch the less fuzzy the image is. Unless, maybe you really like having a fuzzy image because it reminds you of your old teddy bear.

As said earlier resolution and refresh rates are also important to look into.

There are some added features of a monitor you can look into. You may decide to buy a flat screen monitor or one that has USB ports in the side. Flat screen monitors should really be flat, since some will try to fool you with a round one. That was just a joke. Manufacturers who dupe flat screens will usually have the top and bottom flat.
